About Chapman
Chapman is defined as a 3rd class city and is governed by an elected mayor and five council members. In 1872 the community was incorporated and named after the Chapman Creek. The Chapman community is rich in Irish heritage and history. Chapman held its first Labor Day celebration in 1909 a tradition which has continued for 100 years.

The Chapman community is primarily agricultural, but is also home to civil service and military personnel and retirees; Fort Riley is only 15 miles away. Our Unified School District 473 contributes greatly to the local economy employing nearly 200 individuals in certified and classified positions.

I am writing to say "Thank You" to the town of Chapman for being such an awesome place to live. As many of you know I am finishing up 15 months in Iraq and am really looking forward to getting home. The reason for the big "Thank You" is simply because after 23 years in the military and more than a few extended periods away from "home", I can honestly tell you that my family has never been more looked after and thought of - then it has been the past 12 months.
